Wind turbine components will cause some traffic delays

Starting this week, turbine components will be delivered for the Tenaska Clear Creek wind farm, north of Maryville.

Project Manager, Ryan Choquette, says that components will be entering from Highways JJ, FF, and B, as well as Icon.

"It varies by turbine site.  Some of them only have a few miles off of 71 to travel.  Other ones have as much as 12 miles from exiting 71 to the actual final location."

Choquette adds that deliveries could result in minor road closures and traffic delays, especially around corners.

"The biggest impact will be when he trucks are making their turns and the escorts will stop the traffic shortly and have the truck get off of the highway.  That will be an impact driving down the roads.  The trucks will have escorts and they may have to stop or they may stop traffic in order to in order to pass some of the narrower roads."

Deliveries will continue for twelve weeks. Construction on the wind farm is progressing on schedule. It is expected to be operational later this year.
